The Great Funktier was born on a cold November night in 2010 when four friends met in a cramped bedroom for a jam session. As soon as we got through the first tune, we knew we were on to something. The sound was fresh, the mood was ripe, and the jam was delicious. We knew we were onto something.
Three weeks later, we played our first gig to a capacity crowd at the Last Dollar Saloon, a well-known and well-loved locals’ bar in Telluride, Colorado. The next week, we helped Santa spread the holiday spirit on Christmas Day by rocking out at The Llama, one of Telluride’s premiere music venues. A few days later, we were asked to fill in when Citizen Cope canceled a show at the Historic Sheridan Opera House. That’s how we do it; go big or go home.
Since then, we’ve made it our mission to bring the funk everywhere we go. We’ve established a reputation as Telluride’s premiere party band. When we hit the stage, we’re going to bring energy and dedication to the promotion of the hip motion. With a sound that rocks hard, pushes boundaries and still remains endlessly danceable, The Great Funktier will get you moving.
Bring your dancing shoes; we’ll bring the party
